Centenary Netball Club (CNC) will be holding an Introduction to Umpiring Session prior to the commencement of the 2026 season.

πŸ‘Ÿ Who Should Attend?

This session is designed for players and athletes who are beginning their umpiring journey in 2026.

⚠️ This session is compulsory for all beginner umpires.


πŸ“ Pre-Session Requirement

All participants must complete and pass the online Umpiring Exam before attending the session.

Please arrive prepared with:

  • Water bottle
  • Hat
  • Whistle
  • Notebook and pen
  • Appropriate sportswear and joggers

If you are unable to attend the CNC session, Western Districts Netball Association (WDNA) will also be running alternative umpiring sessions.

βœ… What Do You Need to Become an Umpire?

πŸ“ Education & Registration

  • Create a profile on Netball Learning and complete the online umpiring exam
  • Be a registered member of:
    • Centenary Netball Club, or
    • Western Districts Netball Association (WDNA), or
    • Netball Queensland
  • No minimum age to start
    • Recommended from 11–12 years and older
    • Must be confident applying the rules of netball

πŸŽ“ Beginner Introduction to Umpiring Course

  • All beginner umpires must attend an Introduction to Umpiring Course
  • CNC will conduct this course prior to the start of the season (before fixtures commence)

🏐 Umpiring Attire & Equipment

  • White shirt or CNC Umpiring Shirt
  • Dark or white shorts/skirt
    (Players may wear their umpiring shirt over their playing uniform)
  • Whistle
  • Hair tie (to assist with centre pass direction)

πŸ“‹ Administration Requirements

  • Statement by a Supplier form (ATO)
  • Working with Children (Blue Card) – required if you are 18 years or older

πŸš€ Beginning Your Umpiring Journey

  1. Read and familiarise yourself with the Rules of Netball
  2. Complete and pass the Online Umpiring Exam
  3. Contact the CNC Umpiring Convenor to express your interest
  4. Attend the Beginner Introduction to Umpiring Course
  5. Gain experience by practising at training sessions
    • Speak with your coach about umpiring games at training
  6. Rosters are completed weekly
    • Please advise the Umpiring Convenor of your availability
  7. All umpires must arrive 10 minutes prior to their allocated game time

πŸ’° Umpiring Payments & Accreditation

Payments are based on accreditation level:

  • Trainee: $15 per game
  • WDNA Accredited: $25 per game
  • National C Badge: $30 per game
  • National B Badge: $35 per game

🏐 Coaching Accreditation Pathways

Netball coaching accreditation consists of six tiers.
All levels require a current Rules of Netball Theory Exam pass (70% or above).

Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) can be applied to all courses after the Foundation level.


🌱 Foundation Coach

Delivery: Online
Suitable for: Club Coaches

Prerequisites:

  • Current Rules of Netball Theory Exam pass (70% or above)
  • No minimum age requirement

🌿 Development Coach

Delivery: Online course + 4–5 hours face-to-face
Ratio: 1:12
Suitable for: Club, Association & Regional Coaches

Prerequisites:

  • Foundation accreditation (minimum 12 months)
  • Minimum age: 15 years at course completion

🌳 Intermediate Coach

Delivery: 7 hours face-to-face
Ratio: 1:10
Suitable for: Representative, Talent Identification & State League Coaches

Prerequisites:

  • Development accreditation (minimum 12 months)
  • Minimum age: 15 years at course completion

🌲 Advanced Coach

Delivery: 29 hours face-to-face plus assignment work
Suitable for: Representative, Talent Identification & State League Coaches

Prerequisites:
As determined by Netball Queensland


🌟 Elite Coach

Delivery: As required
Suitable for:

  • Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) Assistant Coaches
  • Underage State Teams
  • State League (top level)
  • Emerging High-Performance Coaches
